2006 In a Dark Place
Hmm, this was a terrible movie from start to finish. The acting was less than par, the story didn't mesh, and the setting matched an Independent movie with a low budget. Leelee Sobieski is a wonderful actress, but after this movie it severely makes me wonder how she got better. This was about a lady (Leelee) who starts a job at a rich house. She's been hired by a man (you only see once) to watch over his niece and nephew. Add some ghosts, and this could have been a great movie. However, her acting coupled with the other female actress just don't make sense. The story makes sense, until the end. All in all, this was a horrible movie that I would never rent again, and suggest no one else does.
I'd give this maybe a 2/10 just because I can't think of anything worse than a 2. Don't rent this unless you want to be confused, bored out of your mind, and waste your time.

New Movie Star Trek

Star Trek, the new movie:
I have to say, this movie was phenomenal. It has excitement, story, vivid characters, twists and turns, and even new things. You start off with Kirk's parents. Shortly after you learn how wild Jim was when a child. I love how all the characters looked just like the originals only younger. They even had the quirks down.
Excitement was throughout, and the whole movie was reminiscent of days long past. The movie showed a new side to what has always been, except with better graphics and newer effects. While there wasn't much time for character development, each character seemed to be three dimensional and fully alive. The acting was top notch, and each character appeared to be exactly who they were intended.
While effects and graphics were up there with the acting, they did not take away from the story or the performances as some movies do. It wasn't just flash and smoke.
There were plenty of good looking guys as well as girls (Ohura, wow). I'd give this movie an 8/10 overall. It wasn't the best, by any means, but it was definitely better than most movies out there lately.

Musical movie
A definite blast from the past when it comes to music, this movie was wonderful. Mamma Mia!
Whether you went to the theaters, purchased the movie, or other, it was definitely one to see. I believe the music was a perfect blend into the story, and matched each situation with harmony. None of the characters was too outrageous, and some curve balls were even thrown. Because of the music, this movie definitely contained vivid characters.
You start with this young female who doesn't know herself because she's never known any father. Then you go into meeting these men, 3, of which one is her biological father. You find out she's getting married, and it goes on from there. Her mother confronts these men only to be heart broken again until she confronts the past head on.
While the story was a great romantic comedy, the musical performances were quite well done. Each actor/actress seemed to rise to the occasion. There were a couple of gritty spots with voices, but overall they matched rather well. The tension of marriage, not knowing yourself, the past, the future, and friends and family kept this movie going throughout with plenty to tell and show. There were a couple of goofy dances thrown in, but laughs are always needed when something deep draws you in too far.
I'm a sucker for a good romantic comedy as well as music. Add a few sexy hunks, and I give this a 10/10.
Another great movie for girls, gay men, and couples. Though, I'm sure plenty of straight men would rather skip this one. If you like Abba and don't mind remixes, this is one for you.

New Movies in Theaters
If you are like me, you watch movies in the theater. I am only an online movie critic, however, I believe I have great taste in movies. My intention is to input info on movies here that are known, new, and maybe some unknown ones. That being said, the following are 3 movies I plan on (or have) seeing this month: X-men Origins: Wolverine, Star Trek, Terminator: Salvation.
I have currently seen X-men Origins. While it wasn't the best movie on story, this movie has more than enough action. It is rather fast paced, and keeps you trying to catch up. Again, because of lack of story, little is said about who Wolverine actually was, however, it was true to the character. The characters used were lively, had personality despite the little we saw of them, and connected with the story that is later changed by the movie makers.
If you go back to X-men the first one that came out, you can see parallels here with the character. That should be the case, but it's nice when the storyline and characters mesh together correctly. The original Wolverine was a bit more hot tempered and wild than the on screen version, however, I believe most of his energy and personality were captured. You can also see that his energy and fire were dimmed slightly as the movies progressed. I think in part due to Xavier, but also the other people his character had to deal with. He was needed to be tender and milder, and thus he became more so. But, he still managed to keep some of the wild fire deep in his soul.
Some of the story was predictable, as we already know how Wolverine came to be. Though, the creators used some imagination in incorporating things seen later. Overall I'd give this movie an 8/10. For girls and gay men alike, I suppose Hugh Jackman is sexy enough to go see this film.
